Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Starting in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses were able to save $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Each Pella® product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. What does this mean for you? Not only might you find a drop in your heating and cooling costs, you’ll also help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are each specifically designed and made-to-order for your home, meaning no two projects are identical. Our broad spectrum of products make it nearly impossible to discuss pricing without first bearing in mind your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it helpful to send out a Pella sales representative who can provide you with a quoted project price once they have seen the project site itself. To accelerate the quoting process, your Pella® sales representative is equipped with a computer and a portable printer so that they can provide you with all the quote information you’ll need—once the sales representative has been given the opportunity to consider the requirements of the job and matches them with your vision.

In addition to offering a large range of high-grade products to select from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you fantastic window and door products at affordable prices, giving you a chance to make the home improvements you want to while building great value into your Greenfield area home as you do it.

Can I paint my vinyl windows?

The attraction of Pella's® vinyl windows is that you don’t need to. You can choose the color your want. We do not suggest painting your vinyl products, as this will void your warranty. Some paint companies say that their paint can adhere to vinyl, but it could wreck your windows if the wrong paint is applied or done incorrectly.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We suggest that you clean them with a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning solution or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. Or you can make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Put the solution on a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not suggest using glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they could leave streaks or create a film that attracts moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses contract installers who are certified to install Pella doors and windows. They are required to complete a thorough set of training courses so that your windows and doors are correctly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty standards. We look for the best Greenfield-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Prior to beginning our relationship, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are are insured by liability and workers compensation insurance. Beyond Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your local Pella branch provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t provide. Our experts are highly-trained in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Having a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that your project will have the knowledge of our whole team. We like to use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. You can easily contact your sales representative or our main office if you have any concerns and we will get to work resolving the issue.
