Now that fall is here, it’s the perfect time to set up the outside of your home with fall decorations. Sprucing up your replacement windows and doors with some simple and unique designs can be a good way to begin the season and get in the mood for scarves, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.
Step up your curb appeal this season with these fun décor projects that are easy, fresh and on-trend:
Project #1: Corn Husk Garland
This DIY will add fantastic curb appeal to your home’s windows or doors, depending on where you would like to place the garland. Wherever you end up putting it, all this project takes is a few easy steps: determine the length of your rope (outlining your windows or door) with a few added inches to get a droopy effect, and stick corn husks to the rope with a hot glue gun. Put up your new garland to accentuate your home access points!
Project #2: Door Wreath
Incorporate all the warm colors of fall into a DIY wreath to hang on your door. The project requires a wooden stick wreath, burlap, artificial fall foliage, scissors and a glue gun. Here are the steps: Cut the burlap into four 4x4-inch squares. Then, fold and glue the burlap squares along the sides of the wreath while gluing foliage in between the burlap sections.
Project #3: Welcome Sign
Add warmth to your home this fall with a blackboard “Welcome” or “Happy Fall” sign outside of your door. Remind passersby what the season is really about and draw interest toward your festive fall entryway.
And while creating unique and colorful outdoor decorations is an easy way to get into the season spirit, make sure to prepare your replacement doors and windows for the colder temps, too. They will look fantastic, but if your doors and windows are aged or unprepared for the approaching winter weather, they could let in cold drafts and leave you feeling pretty uncomfortable in the upcoming months.
